As a private tutor, I understand the importance of safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children who participate in my tutoring sessions. In accordance with the Children First Act (2015) and relevant guidance published by the Department of Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth, I have developed a comprehensive safeguarding statement to ensure the safety and well-being of the children I work with.
I recognise that the welfare of the child is paramount and I am committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children who participate in my tutoring sessions. This includes protecting children from abuse, neglect, bullying, and any other forms of harm.
I will provide a safe and supportive environment for children to learn, free from any kind of abuse or neglect. I will take steps to prevent harm and promote the well-being of all children who attend my tutoring sessions.
I will follow the guidance set out in the Children First Act (2015) and in particular, the guidance on Recognising and Responding to Child Safeguarding Concerns. This means that I will be alert to any signs of abuse, neglect or harm and respond appropriately in order to protect the child and ensure their well-being.
I will provide children with information on how to raise concerns or report any incidents of harm, abuse or neglect. This includes providing them with contact details for the relevant authorities and ensuring that they know how to access support and assistance if they need it.
I will ensure that I have appropriate insurance cover in place to cover my tutoring activities.
I will undergo training in child safeguarding and update my knowledge and skills as required.
I will carry out a risk assessment for any tutoring sessions held, to identify and address any potential risks to children. This will include considering the suitability of the location, the provision of appropriate equipment and materials, and ensuring that the child is adequately supervised at all times.
I will obtain written consent from a parent or guardian before commencing any tutoring sessions with a child. This will include obtaining information on any special requirements or needs of the child, including any medical requirements.
I will maintain appropriate records of any incidents or concerns relating to child safeguarding, and will keep these records confidential and secure.
I will work in partnership with parents and guardians to promote the welfare of the child and will provide regular feedback on their progress.
I will ensure that all adults who assist me in my tutoring sessions have been appropriately vetted and trained in child safeguarding, and that they understand their responsibilities in this regard.
This safeguarding statement is subject to regular review and will be updated as required to ensure that it remains effective and relevant to my tutoring activities
